Still waiting but got one from Chanh and looked through it, identified that there were a few key skills:

  • Be able to work effectively with stakeholders (need to understand the role of different stakeholders)
  • Be able to manage a group of people (40-100)
  • Create confidence with users and customers
  • Improve how teams make things
  • Improve the processes of how we make things
  • Improve the people that make things
  • Know how to make great software and what teams that make great software look like
  • Be able to motivate teams and individuals
  • Own a PnL
  • Work effectively with product heads

Summaries notes from meeting with recruitier

  • What area of the sector am I looking at, Enterprise, Small Business, StartUp, Growing business
  • What risk/reward opportunity am I looking for
  • Where do I feel is my niche, Product, Services?
  • Do I have business management experience, can I manage a PnL?
  • Am I able to attract & retain development talen?

Look at your general skills areas and define them better

Within systems of work what do you need to develop

Within feedback, what do you need to develop

  • Having conversations with red personalities, not getting steam rolled

Within communication, what do you need to develop

  • Removing abiguity when giving boundaries

  • Asynchronous communication over separate locations (Communication with other people separated by timezones and physical locations requires a different tempo and synchrony compared to on‐premise communication. I believe he recognizes this, and is already on the way to improving.)

Working with stakeholders

  • How to influence senior stakeholders, understand their motivations and drive. How to work towards those motivations, what’s appropriate, what would be inappropriate.

Done, need to summarize learnings. Strategy of trgectory, looking at where we need to be in x years time, then looking for focus on how to get them. (Still fuzzy, need to re-read to get clarity).
